Children’s Rights

Term 6, Week 1 - Children's Rights

During our final week 1 of this school year, we reminded the children about Children’s Rights – and tried to remember what we’ve learnt about them this year.

Here are some of the rights that they remembered:

  • The right to be safe
  • The right to be educated
  • The right to a childhood
  • The right to be treated fairly
  • The right to be healthy
  • The right to be heard

Term 6, Week 1 - Children's Rights

The children told us why their rights are important:

  • It helps us recognise danger – when something is unsafe or feels wrong or uncomfortable

Term 6, Week 1 - Children's Rights

  • It helps us know that we can speak up – to say “No” to unsafe situations and tell a safe adult

Term 6, Week 1 - Children's Rights

  • Rights make us confident to help the voice inside our head say “NO, I deserve safety”

Term 6, Week 1 - Children's Rights

Here are some activities that you can do with your child / children on staying safe
