Term 6, Week 1 – Children’s Rights

Children’s Rights

During our final week 1 of this school year, we reminded the children about Children’s Rights – and tried to remember what we’ve learnt about them this year.
Here are some of the rights that they remembered:
- The right to be safe
- The right to be educated
- The right to a childhood
- The right to be treated fairly
- The right to be healthy
- The right to be heard

The children told us why their rights are important:
- It helps us recognise danger – when something is unsafe or feels wrong or uncomfortable

- It helps us know that we can speak up – to say “No” to unsafe situations and tell a safe adult

- Rights make us confident to help the voice inside our head say “NO, I deserve safety”

Here are some activities that you can do with your child / children on staying safe
