Term 4, Week 2 - Child on child harm

Child on child harm

This week we are talking to children about child on child harm – focusing on helping them understand what physical child on child harm is.

In daily reviews and Friday’s PSHE session, we are going to be sharing the following information with children:

What is child on child harm?

Child on child harm is any kind of harm between children on or offline. This can include physical, verbal, emotional or racial, where the harm is on purpose. Bullying is a form of child on child harm – not all child on child incidents are bullying. Bullying is when the child on child harm is targeted and happening repeatedly, there is often a power imbalance between the children involved.

What is physical child on child harm?

Physical child on child harm includes hitting, kicking, shaking, biting, hair pulling, or otherwise causing physical harm.
At Begbrook we do not tolerate child on child harm in any circumstance.
