Term 2, Week 7 – Online Safety
Online Safety
In the last week of each term we always talk about online safety for our safeguarding weekly theme, this is because children are likely to spend more time online during the holidays. This week, our online safety theme across the academy was: Using the internet for good and knowing the bad.
In addition to recapping the SMART rules for online safety, we used daily reviews and Friday’s safeguarding session to discuss the following questions in each year group (ask us to find out about what we said!):
Year 1 – How can we get online? What amazing things can we get from being online?
Year 2 – What amazing things can we get from being online? What things can be not so nice about being online?
Year 3 – How can I use the internet to have a positive impact? How can the internet cause a negative impact?
Year 4 – How can I use the internet to have a positive impact? How could I put myself at risk online?
Year 5 – How could I put myself at risk online? How can I be sure I am being safe and acting safe online?
Year 6 – What dangers do I have a responsibility to manage while being online including how can debt be created online?
