Term 2, Week 6 – Privates are Private

Sexual Harm – Privates are Private
This week, we spoke to children about NSPCC’s PANTS initiative.
In daily reviews and Friday’s safeguarding weekly theme session, we used the following information to talk to children about keeping their privates private:
EYFS/KS1:
We used the PANTS poster to help children remember the rules for keeping their privates private:

KS2:
We used the following information to help KS2 remember how to keep themselves safe:
- Your body belongs to you. No one should touch your private parts except to keep you clean or healthy (like a doctor with a parent present).
- Private parts are the parts of your body covered by underwear.
- Say “No” and tell a trusted adult if someone tries to touch your private parts or asks you to keep a secret about them.
- Secrets about touching are not okay. Good secrets (like a surprise party) make you feel happy; bad secrets make you feel worried or sad.
- Speak up even if you feel scared. You are never in trouble for telling an adult about something that makes you uncomfortable.
- Trusted adults can be parents, teachers, or another grown-up you feel safe with.
