Term 2, Week 3 – Road Safety

As part of Road Safety Week, each day we have been asking the children to tell us how they stay safe on the pavement.
Here are some of their fantastic ideas:
Stop, Look, Listen and Think:
Always STOP before crossing the road
LOOK both ways (left, right, and left again)
LISTEN for traffic sounds
THINK if it’s safe before stepping onto the road

Use Safe Crossing Places:
Always cross at zebra crossings, traffic lights, or school patrol crossings
Never run across the road

Be Bright, Be Seen, Be Safe
Wear bright or reflective clothing so that drivers can see you
Use lights or reflectors if walking or cycling in the dark
Wear a helmet every time you ride

Stay on the Pavement and avoid distractions:
Walk on the pavement or footpath, away from the edge of the road
If there’s no pavement, walk facing traffic
Don’t use headphones or look at screens when crossing
Pay full attention to the road

The children are amazing! Ask them what they can remember from this week?
