Chatterbox – what is it and how can it help?

This week, we talked to children about class chatterboxes. We first reminded them of their rights:

We then used the following information to discuss with our children:

• What is the class chatterbox for? When you are worried about something, it is sometimes easier to write it worry down. The class chatterbox is the place for you to do this.
• How does the class chatterbox work in our classroom? Each class to discuss where is it kept, when is it checked, when children can write in it
• What will happen after I have put something in the class chatterbox? The class teacher will read it and will make a decision on what to do next. It might be that they speak to a member of the safeguarding team, it might be that they speak to you, it might be that they speak to your grown-ups at home. They will always check in with you about what they are going to do before they do it.
