Term 2, Week 1 – Firework Safety

Firework Safety

This week, we have been talking to the children about staying safe whilst watching fireworks.

Fireworks are lots of fun but they can be very dangerous if we are not careful.

We were really impressed with the ideas the children thought of to keep safe whilst enjoying fireworks:

Never touch fireworks “Fireworks are not toys. Only grown-ups should handle them. If you see one on the
ground, don’t touch it—tell an adult.”

Stay back! “Always stand far away when fireworks are being lit. A good rule is to stay behind a barrier or at least 5
big steps back.”

Sparklers are hot! “Sparklers can get hotter than a frying pan. Always wear gloves, hold it at
arm’s length, and never wave it near anyone.”

Keep our pets inside “Fireworks can scare animals. Keep pets safe indoors with the windows closed.”

Listen to adults “Always follow the rules grown-ups give us. They’re there to keep us safe.”
